I love this also, it is definitely addictive. I was going to make my version tonight, but will do this one instead. I forget about this one it seems, good thing I kept it in my recipe box. I don't always have an apple, so I usually add a fresh, thinly sliced carrot or two to mine. Also, don't always have barley, so I also used natural brown rice or just put them on top of a big mound of mashed potatoes.

Again, another "German" recipe with the BBQ sauce. It would not happen in Germany. The sauce is more like a gravy. When this dish is cooked with the right ingredients, it is a filling meal.

I made this for my New Year's dinner and it was a hit. I used rice instead of barley.

We LOVED this recipe! I know it sounds strange at first, but it was wonderful. I couldn't find regular barley, so we used 1/2 cup brown rice instead and it worked out great. We also brushed more BBQ sauce on the chops at the end. This will be a staple in our house for sure!

This recipe was sent to me on Dinner Made Easy newsletter a few weeks ago. It looked very good but I wasn't too sure about the combination of apples and sauerkraut... I read reviews and decided to try it anyways. I am glad I did because it was VERY GOOD. I added a little more barbecue sauce at the last 15 minutes. My husband and my son both had second servings. It was a hit!

I was surprised at how yummy this was! The pork chops were full of flavor and moist. The apples (I used granny smith) took the edge off the sauerkraut. My husband proclaimed "This is a keeper, the best sauerkraut dish I have eaten".

I was surprised that this dish was so delicious. It was full of flavor and naturally sweet from the apples. The pork cooked up perfectly. The only thing I would change is to add the barbque sauce at the last 15 minutes of cooking instead of the whole time. My husband and I both enjoyed it.
