I liked this, and didn't think the basil was overpowering. I made it a second time and used lemon basil and thought it was even better, the lemon overtones of the basil nicely complimented the crab.
This is definitely a step up from one of my kids' favorites, tuna salad stuffed into a cucumber half. I do agree that it is improved with a bit of salt and pepper, although I do realize that many people are trying to cut their salt consumption.
This is a nice cool lunch on those days when I don't want to heat up the kitchen cooking a hot meal, and if you put another cucumber slice on top they can be carried to work without too much mess.
