Banana Split Ice Box Dessert (Crowd sized)

My husband created this Banana Split frozen dessert when he was a boy scout 35 years ago. Simple and fun for kids to make, it is still a favorite dessert recipe in our house every summer.

Ingredients

3: medium bananas

1/2: gallon neopolitan ice-cream

2: cups powdered sugar

1 1/2: cups evaporated milk

1: pint whipping cream

1/2: cup butter

1: cup chopped walnuts

1: teaspoon vanilla extract

1: box graham cracker crumbs

Directions

1 Cover bottom of 11x15 pan with graham cracker crust. Reserve 1 cup crumbs.
2 Slice bananas crosswise and layer over crust.
3 Slice ice-cream in 1/2 inch thick slices and place over bananas.
4 Sprinkle in walnuts.
5 Freeze until firm.
6 Melt chocolate chips and butter in small sauce pan over low heat. Add powered sugar and evaporated milk. Cook mixture until thick and smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and add vanilla. Cool.
7 Pour chocolate mixture over ice-cream; freeze until firm.
8 Whip cream until stiff. Spread over chocolate layer and top with reserved crumbs.
9 Store in freezer; remove about 10 minutes before serving. Will keep several weeks.
