Wonderful! Will probably become my go-to party dessert. I cooked the bottom layer for exactly 15 mins and it did not burn after putting it back in the oven to bake the topping. I was using a glass baking dish.

This recipe sounds good! I wonder since Baklava can also be made with pistachios, couldn't these bar cookies be made with pistachios instead of walnuts?

Fantastic recipe! I've made this many times - I do, however, buy 2 boxes of mini fillo shells bc I like the extra texture. Everyone raves about this recipe. Love it!

Our household usually gives baked goods to neighbors for the holidays. This was the recipe we used last year and everyone loved these Baklava Bars! I'm not a good cook but this recipe made it seem as though I am.....Thanks Betty!

I made these and shared them with my friend who is Greek. She LOVED them so much she is now using this recipe to serve her family at holiday gatherings. It is so much easier than traditional baklava with the same great taste. No wonder this recipe won! I plan on making them for my Christmas cookie exchange this year and cutting them into triangles and placing them in paper cups.

These are pretty good, but not nearly as good as actual baklava. For the baking time, either the first or second one, lessen it by a minute or possibly two or use a clear glass baking dish so you can monitor and prevent burning. Mine slightly burned on one end of the pan.

I call these $1500 bars, and here's why: My step dad is a computer guy here in Silicon Valley and charges a ton of money for his services. These bars are so good that he requests them as payment from me whenever he has to work on my computer! I make them exactly according to the recipe and they're SO much faster and easier than real baklava and they taste even BETTER, if you ask me.

AMAZING! I love baklava and these are a wonderful twist on my favorite dessert. The lemon adds an interesting flavor, slight more tangy than traditional baklava, but still great. I have had some baklava where the honey flavor was overwhelming, but the combo of the walnuts, honey, lemon and cinnamon flavors blend very well in this recipe giving it a slightly different, but still very delicious flavor. The crispiness from the phyllo dough give the mouth feel, texture and "crunch" of traditional baklava. I cut these into small squares, placed in a cupcake liner and drizzled with honey. They will be served at our upscale school auction tonight and I have no doubt that they will go fast!
