Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Our baked sweet potato chips are a delicious alternative to fried fare and can be ready in 30 minutes.

medium sweet potatoes, peeled
tablespoon vegetable oil
teaspoon coarse sea salt
Pepper to taste

  • 1 Heat oven to 400°F. Cut sweet potatoes into very thin slices. In large bowl, toss potatoes with oil, salt and pepper. Place potatoes in single layer on 2 ungreased cookie sheets (slices can touch but not overlap).
  • 2 Bake 10 to 15 minutes, rotating cookie sheets once, until edges are crisp but potatoes are still soft in the center. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooking parchment paper. Cool completely (chips will become crisp as they cool).

Expert Tips

Use a mandoline to slice the sweet potatoes to get the most even, thin chips.

Keep an eye on the chips as they bake. They can take a few minutes more or less, depending on how thin they are cut.

For more spice, sprinkle in chili powder and cumin before baking. Or experiment with your favorite spice combinations.
