Make authentic rice quicker! Old El Paso® Mexican Cooking Sauce provides the flavor--all you need to add is oil, rice and chicken broth.
tablespoon vegetable oil
cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
pouch Old El Paso™ Mexican Cooking Sauce (any flavor)
cups Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)
In 2-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add rice; cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice sizzles and begins to lightly brown. Add cooking sauce and chicken broth. Heat to boiling. Cover; reduce heat to low.
Simmer 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until liquid is absorbed and rice is cooked. For a drier rice mixture, remove cover and let simmer uncovered about 5 minutes or until desired consistency.
Make it your own: Try any of the flavors of Old El Paso® Mexican Cooking Sauce in this recipe; the roasted tomato flavor is the most traditional, but all taste delicious. Find your own favorite!
