Come home to a flavorful Asian pork ribs dinner that's made easily in a slow cooker.
pounds pork bone-in country-style ribs
medium onion, sliced
cup hoisin sauce
cup seasoned rice vinegar
cup soy sauce
tablespoon grated gingerroot or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
teaspoons sesame oil, if desired
Fresh cilantro leaves, if desired
Place ribs in 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker. Cover with onion slices. Mix remaining ingredients except cilantro; pour over ribs and onion.
Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until ribs are tender.
Remove ribs to serving platter; keep warm. Skim fat from surface of juices in cooker. Serve ribs with sauce; sprinkle with cilantro.
The sesame oil adds a nice subtle sesame flavor to the ribs. However, if you don't have sesame oil, sprinkle the ribs with toasted sesame seed before serving.
Serve these ribs with bowls of steaming rice and Chinese-style coleslaw. Finish the meal with fresh pineapple chunks sprinkled with chopped fresh mint.
