I have a Better Homes & Garden Meat cookbook, pubsilhed in 1964. My great-grandfather gave it to my mother when she got married. I do not think she used it much, according to what I ate as a child! It's amusing to see the old hairstyles & clothes, and horrifying to see the very thick borders of fat on the steaks. The old-time wording is cute go-withs instead of sides . Givie dad the extra pork chop .This will be an interesting series of blog posts and maybe I'll be inspired to seek out heirloom cookbooks in a local bookstore.

It was very simple to prepare and quick to make. The sauce was sweeter than I prefered and not as sour as sweet. But it was definitely enjoyable.

I have not made these, but I need to watch sodium and cholesteral very closesly, it says one serving has 55mg of sodium. Could some one at BC please correct this. I know the meatballs alone have more sodium in them then 55mg, with the sauce it would put it close to 300mg or more. Please correct.

The meatballs tasted great but did not care for the sauce at all. Ended up adding brown sugar to make the sauce sweeter. Would not make this again.

Made these for a potluck party, and they were gone in no time. I actually had some men who were telling people they were awful, just so they could eat them all themselves!!
