EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

You can use turkey sausage as a substitute for the pork sausage.

If the timing is right, plan a trip to a nearby apple orchard with your family. Not only is it a great way to spend time together, but your kids will get a lesson in where and how apples are grown.

I have made this twice. I made the 4 serving 8x8" pan version. I first tried it with hot ground sausage and that was terrible. I thought the real apples didn't work well in this dish. I ended up just using the canned apples with maple sausage. Here's my version. 1 lb bulk pork sausage 1/2 to 3/4 can (21 oz) apple pie filling 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz) 3/4 cup Original Bisquick® mix 3/4 cup milk 1/8 teaspoon salt half of 1/8 teaspoon pepper 3 eggs

We had this for breakfast this morning and we thought it was yummy delicious! I made it with hot sausage. This added just the right amount of spice. The casserole was not too sweet as someone stated and maybe that was because of the hot spicy sausage. We thought it was the perfect mixture of flavorings. I'm sure I will make it again and again! Thanks for the recipe.

Entirely too much apple going on....using the fresh apples with a light sprinkle of sugar is sufficient....anyway, who likes their scrambled eggs sweet?
