I have made this twice. I made the 4 serving 8x8" pan version. I first tried it with hot ground sausage and that was terrible. I thought the real apples didn't work well in this dish. I ended up just using the canned apples with maple sausage. Here's my version. 1 lb bulk pork sausage 1/2 to 3/4 can (21 oz) apple pie filling 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz) 3/4 cup Original Bisquick® mix 3/4 cup milk 1/8 teaspoon salt half of 1/8 teaspoon pepper 3 eggs

We had this for breakfast this morning and we thought it was yummy delicious! I made it with hot sausage. This added just the right amount of spice. The casserole was not too sweet as someone stated and maybe that was because of the hot spicy sausage. We thought it was the perfect mixture of flavorings. I'm sure I will make it again and again! Thanks for the recipe.

Entirely too much apple going on....using the fresh apples with a light sprinkle of sugar is sufficient....anyway, who likes their scrambled eggs sweet?

Very good. Did not use pie filling as that sounded too sweet and gooey. I only used one chopped apple and cooked with maple flavored sausage. I would use two apples next time.

I made this for Mothers Day Brunch. It was well received, however, the pie filling gave it too much sweetness and a gooey texture. I think it would be better with just fresh chopped apples next time.

outstanding. i use 8 eggs, and really tart apples. top with apple slices. have made it with bosc pears, which also works well. and have used peach pie filling with apples. still cannot find a package cheese that is as sharp as i like. this actually feeds six guys that are going to work that day. throw in some nutmeg by the way.

I made this last weekend and it was phenomenal. Used Aunt Jemima buttermilk pancake mix instead of Bisquick because that's what I had in the house. Used 2% cheddar, spicy pork sausage and honey crisp apples. Delicious. I will definitely make it again.

The first time I made this, it was to use up a lot of pantry items in our vacation rental. We were very pleased with it, and I have since made it again, this time using seasoned turkey sausage, egg substitute and fat free half and half. Again, very very good!

Really good!!! Easy to lighten up, I used turkey sausage, skim milk, and heartsmart bisquick, and the pie filling with no added sugar, and it was still yummy!
