For a simple fall or winter dessert, you can't beat bread pudding. Baked in jumbo muffin cups for pretty presentation and served warm with maple sauce, it's delightful.

I prepared this recipe for my friends who were attending my annual Christmas High Tea. The dessert received rave reviews from all seven attendees! I followed the cupcake recipe exactly, but I filled 12 regular-sized muffin cups instead of six large, and the portions were just the right size. I substituted my grandmother's recipe for hard sauce for the maple sauce. This bread pudding had the same wonderful flavor of my grandmother's steamed Christmas pudding without taking the same time and effort to prepare. I will definitely serve this recipe for Christmas dinner. It's so delicious (and EASY) that I'm sure it will become a new family tradition.
