Chia seed is a delicious addition to this dish and is classified as a super-food. In addition, it helps to thicken dishes. Also try chia seed in smoothies for its thickening power.

Wondering if anyone has tried it with steel-cut oats?

Great recipe! I have made overnight oatmeal for over a year now and I just love it. I have been told that with the chia seeds and the yogurt overnight the cereal plumps up and actually gives you a "bigger looking" portion for the same calories. I use vanilla Greek Yogurt because of the added protein - and sprinkle it with cinnamon or apple pie spice to mix into cereal. For those afraid of cold oatmeal - it is perfectly healthy, but you CAN always microwave it for 2 min before serving. YUMMY!

Oh. My. Yum! This was delish! I don't usually like yogurt breakfast foods but this was amazing! Sadly, I had to modify the recipe due to the fact that none of the stores in my area carry apple crisp yogurt *sad face* I had to settle for apple turnover. Also, I don't like walnuts so I used almonds :p But I will definitely be making refrigerator oatmeal again!
