Try this new take on oatmeal. Simply refrigerate overnight, and you have ready-to-go oatmeal in the morning!

Wondering if anyone has tried it with steel-cut oats?

Great recipe! I have made overnight oatmeal for over a year now and I just love it. I have been told that with the chia seeds and the yogurt overnight the cereal plumps up and actually gives you a "bigger looking" portion for the same calories. I use vanilla Greek Yogurt because of the added protein - and sprinkle it with cinnamon or apple pie spice to mix into cereal. For those afraid of cold oatmeal - it is perfectly healthy, but you CAN always microwave it for 2 min before serving. YUMMY!

Oh. My. Yum! This was delish! I don't usually like yogurt breakfast foods but this was amazing! Sadly, I had to modify the recipe due to the fact that none of the stores in my area carry apple crisp yogurt *sad face* I had to settle for apple turnover. Also, I don't like walnuts so I used almonds :p But I will definitely be making refrigerator oatmeal again!

The cold oatmeal idea seemed strange to me at first, but it isn't a mistake in the recipe. Some people call it summer oatmeal because it is a cool way to eat oatmeal when it is hot outside. My husband eats this type of oatmeal all the time. We usually use plain greek yogurt and flavor it anyway we want. He loves applesauce and cinnamon together and sliced bananas and cocoa powder. Also, we don't have chia seeds, but have used flax seed for health.

Loved it! I love the cold oatmeal , quick and dirty, out the door, recipes for breakfast! Just never thought of using yogurt. For those of you who are skeptics, just think of it as cold cereal. Kinda like granola. Get creative with the yogurt flavors and toppings. Im gonna try black forest yogurt and chopped dried cherries next!

I'm not so sure I would enjoy cold oatmeal. Has anyone tried heating this in the microwave before eating?

I've been making this recipe for a few months now. I like to change up yogurt and fruits. This is the perfect food to go.
