Try the popular pastry tres leches (Spanish for “three milks”) in muffin form. Almonds give this moist morning treat sweet subtle flavor with a welcome crunch.

Made these for Christmas morning - delicious - instead of 12 I too got more - about 17 - they had the consistency similar to angel food cake - but with that hint of almond flavor. Will be making these again!!

I made these for my family and found that they were a bit dry. It made 24 cupcakes instead of 12 to my surprise. I'm use to Tres Leches being a bit more moist and I have made it with evaporated milk, regular milk and sweetened condensed milk. The Almonds gave it a nice taste and different. We enjoyed them. I found they taste better out of the oven not at room temperature. It does not state if you should refrigerate them or not.

These muffins are both super easy to make (foolproof really)and super delicious. I made them exactly as described, except I got 18 muffins instead of 12. I used a 3Tbsp. scoop to fill the muffin cups and baked them for 14 minutes. I also used fat free sweetened condensed milk, because I had it on hand. I can't imagine they could taste any better with a full fat milk, so don't be afraid to use healthier milk options. I poked a few holes in them before putting the sweetened condensed milk on the top and I probably added more like 2 or 3 tsp of the milk on the top, letting each tsp soak in before adding more. I took them to my church coffee hour and they were a huge hit. They taste best warm from the oven, but you can also put them in the microwave for 10 seconds. Try them, you will love them!
