Almond Fudge Bars

Ingredients

box (18.3 oz) Betty Crocker® fudge brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
1
can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1
egg, slightly beaten
6
bars (1.61 oz each) milk chocolate, coconut and almond candy, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1
cup sliced almonds

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • 2 Make brownie mix as directed on brownie box using water, oil and eggs. Bake 20 minutes.
  • 3 Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk and egg with whisk. Pour mixture over partially baked brownie base. Sprinkle candy bar pieces evenly over base; top with sliced almonds. Bake 22 to 27 minutes longer or until center is set.
  • 4 Cool completely, about 1 hour 30 minutes. For bars, cut into 8 rows by 4 rows.

For even more coconut flavor, stir 1/3 cup sweetened flaked coconut into sweetened condensed milk mixture. Proceed as recipe directs.

These sound yummy; I once had a recipe which sounds very similar to this and could even be the same one. I can tell you that it was delicious and went over very well for people who like Almond Joy candy bars. I don't recall using the candy bars though but rather coconut, almonds and maybe sweetened condensed milk; this sounds like an abbreviated version of it and like something one would enjoy. I'll definitely try it. Glad to see something that made me recollect the recipe I lost.

For Eldyne...I'd think that you could use the miniature almond joy bars cut in 1/3rds...or just do a mixture of milk choc chips and some shredded coconut and sprinkle over bars instead of candy bars! Experiment a little, I'm going to try that this weekend...you might come up with an easier version that tastes just as good and not as expensive!
