Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Make 1 pie crust as directed on box for One-Crust Baked Shell using 9-inch glass pie plate. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or just until set but not brown.
  • 2 Meanwhile, in small bowl, place marzipan and butter; with pastry blender or fork, mix until well blended. Stir in oats and flour until crumbly. In large bowl, mix filling ingredients.
  • 3 Remove partially baked shell from oven. Spread filling in shell. Crumble topping over filling.
  • 4 Bake 30 to 40 minutes longer or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly around edges. If necessary, after 15 minutes of baking, cover edge of crust with strips of foil to prevent excessive browning.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Marzipan is a mixture of almond paste, sugar and egg whites. It adds a crumbly texture and almond flavor to the pie topping.

Look for marzipan and almond paste in the baking section of the grocery store.

This pie goes all the way w/ family & good company...This past August every summer in my community we have Heritage days and I decided to put this recipe in the Bake-Off contest but everything has to be fresh (used can cherries still) so I made my own pie crust came out delcious and believe it or not I came in first place of the pie winning catagorie. I was so proud of myself, I can't get more than enough of comments on this recipe. What makes this dish so delicious is the Almond flavoring and Almond paste used for the topping. Suggesstion: Use Almond Paste it comes in like a toothpaste container marzipan its great but the only thing that is bad its very hard to blend w/ a fork first I would nook it for 30 to 45 seconds in the microwave until it softens easier to handle either way the paste or the Marizpan it comes out the same GREAT taste!!! ENJOY!!!

Perfect cherry pie! Not too tart, perfect amount of almond. Really yummy. I even sprinkled some sliced almonds over the pie and it was great. This was the first pie I''ve ever made and everyone thought it was delicious. I tried not to add too much of the syrup and reserved about a cup and a half and it turns out very slicable and not messy. Will make over and over again!

I made this pie with a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner this year, and it was a hit! Everyone loved it, even people that do not usually like cherry pie! My family said that this recipe was not tart like other cherry pies! I am assuming the less tart is from adding the almond extract! The almond crumble was delicious! An easy way to make a quick cherry pie! Another thing, it was the first cherry pie I had ever made! Love Betty Crocker recipes!
