All-American Chili

A bowl of warm chili is satisfying comfort food on a cold day. For informal get-togethers, serve in a slow cooker to keep it warm.

pound lean ground beef

cup chopped onion

tablespoons chili powder

teaspoons ground cumin

teaspoons garlic salt

teaspoon oregano leaves

can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained

can (14 1/2 oz) petite diced tomatoes

can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  1. Cook ground beef and onion in large pot on medium-high heat until beef is no longer pink, stirring occasionally. Drain fat, if needed.
  2. Stir in spices and remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream and chopped onion, if desired.
