A 1950 Bisquick ad featured Betty Crocker's "1-2-3 Cooky" recipe. This recipe was promoted as "thrifty" because it cost 5 1/2 cents to make a dozen cookies and a large box of Bisquick yielded 390 cookies.

My family liked them. Are they like grandma made? No. But will they fill that " I have a craving for peanut butter cookies, but I don't have time" slot? Yes.

Read a couple reviews and made my own changes... Used half a cup less Bisquick, About a cup and half of Peanut butter and 1 and half teaspoons Vanilla..Oven temps vary so i cooked mine for 7 minutes at 325.. They are very moist and delicious!!!!!

This is the best PB cookie recipe I've ever tried. My cookies were not like biscuits at all. They turned out so moist and chewy. Since there were a few reviews about the "biscuit" like result, I followed the suggestion of one review by using a heaping cup of PB and a table spoon or 2 less of Bisquick than the original recipe called for. I also used the Heart Smart Bisquick mix and sprinkled each cookie with additional sugar on top before baking. The amount of PB flavor in this recipe beats any store bought cookie, cookie mix, or break and bake cookie dough. If you tried this before and got poor results, I strongly urge you try again.

They're good but... remind me of biscuits. I did read other reviews. I always add extra vanilla, and whatever gives primary flavor (this case peanut butter), I also reduced the bisquick a bit to compensate for the dryness. It's the consistency that is missing. If you're a huge biscuit fan, or don't mind deviations on consistency you'll love it.

This recipe has been around since 1950 it simply cannot be as bad as some of the reviews state, or it would have passed into history by now. I find that when making peanut butter cookies that opening a fresh jar works best. A jar of PB that has been in the pantry opened looses some of its flavor and texture. # 1. rule of cooking always use fresh ingredients.

Way too much bisquick. Very dry, barely sweet, pretty tasteless. I threw out the rest of the batch without baking after first pan. Felt bad I had wasted the ingredients. ie: ditto Brandiek (last review)

I won't keep this recipe, won't make it again. I'll go back to my tried and true old time recipe, which has many more ingredients, and is more time-consuming, but it makes a much tastier, richer cookie. These were dry, not flavorful, did not bake crisp and tasty. I considered adding an egg, the way some reviewers had done to compensate for the dryness, but I added extra peanut butter instead. Very disappointing results.
