"I love this pie, even though I just used a premade crust. I forgot the vanilla, but it still tasted delicious! This pie has 27% less fat than the original, and the oatmeal adds a lot of fiber, so you can feel good about this pie. I plan to make it again."

"A delicious recipe, but don't forget the black pepper - pepper should be included in the ingredients list. I didn't have soup bowls, so I used six 4½" glass bowls, but I still had extra filling afterwards -- any size oven-safe bowl will do. Instead of frozen puff pastry, I used Bisquick instead (2 c. Bisquick + 1 c. milk + 1 egg) for the crust -- this worked very well; you cook the crust and filling in the final step in the oven. I forgot the celery, but the onion added enough crunch. For the cream of chicken, remember - do not add any additional water beyond the 3/4 cup listed in the recipe (as you would if you were making soup)."

"Tasted very good! My toppings: pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, bell pepper, kalamata olives, onion flakes, oregano, garlic, parmesan & mozzarella cheese, and I also used 1 full lb of sweet Italian sausage, skin removed, so it was very meaty. And for an authentic taste, I used pizza sauce instead of pasta sauce. Yes, it was basically pizza with no crust. I think I overcooked the pasta because the texture came out too mushy, so I recommend serving on garlic toast for a bit of crispiness."

"Whoops! I substituted shortening for butter and they turned out too hard and crunchy. Don't do what I did; use butter. Other than that, I used butterscotch chips instead of chocolate, which tasted good."

My family loved it for Thanksgiving, though I thought it was too peppery. Both parts of the recipe having pepper is redundant, so don't overdo it. I used regular salt & dried parsley. You don't need to boil the green beans for long if you want them to remain crispy. The prosciutto came out perfectly crispy-tender. Feel free to double the recipe if serving more than 4 because it makes 4 bundles - 1 bundle per person. Can trim the beans and create the topping mix beforehand to save time - it took me more like half an hour.

Delicious! I bought the shortening at room temperature, so I had allow time to chill it before use, so factor that into the timing. This recipe differs from the Cookbook in that the book tells you, after step 3, to cook the crust by itself in the oven for 12-14 min (10 min of which it's foiled-lined). Because I did so, my crust turned out good and crispy. I doubled the amount of cloves because 1/8 tsp isn't much and wanted to spice it up. I also added 2 tbsp maple syrup to filling. Step 4 was challenging because you're pouring the filling into the crust and crumpling foil all while leaning down into a 425º oven - it was uncomfortable, plus I marred the surface of the filling because foil touched it. I will figure out a better way to do that next time. But very yummy results!
