It is my impression that there was a liquid ingredient left out. These were only slightly moistened after adding and beating for the prescribed amount of time, similar to a pie crust before the water is added. Large dry chunks of 'dough' (not batter).
I added 1/4 c water so they could be spooned onto baking sheet.
They were lemony.
