"I made this dish for the first time tonight and made a few adjustments/additions and it turned out absolutely amazing! Here are my changes: - I coated my glass dish with garlic butter to add extra crispiness and flavor to the crescent roll dough (success!) and stretched it thin to create the crust. - Instead of the 1 pound of ground beef, as a [slightly] healthier alternative, I used .4 lb ground turkey breast and .4 lb of Italian sausage. I browned both together, added some Italian seasoning and extra garlic and proceeded to follow the recipe as written (added the pasta sauce, bringing to a boil). - In my opinion, an Italian dish isn't complete without pasta, so I added the cheese over the crescent roll dough, as called for in the directions, but then added approximately 2-2.5 cups low-carb rotini pasta and proceeded to add the meat/sauce mixture and topped that off with just a little bit more cheese and folded the narrow ends of the crescent roll dough over the mixture. - Lastly, I added more garlic butter over the narrow ends of the crescent roll dough to add just a little more flavor and crispiness. Then, I added the remaining cheese over though dough as written in the directions. Simply delicious! I promise!"
