Slow Cooker Swiss Steak Supper After reading numerous reviews on this dish, I tried it myself, making a few tweaks along the way. Before I put the steak in the pan to sear, I rubbed the meat good with my homemade version of Emerils Essence. Then I put a tablespoon of oil in the pan and fried it like the directions said. Then instead of using salty store-bought gravy, I made my own out of the drippings in the pan. No sense letting those good drippings go to waste! I then mixed up everything else and put into a crockpot, added a couple teaspoons of salt and just let it cook for 5-6 hours. Delicious!!
