Bread Machine Crusty Sourdough Bread
This did not turn out at all. The dough was much too wet (the starter was practically a liquid) and the resultant bread is dense, didn't rise, and smells bad. I don't think it cooked all the way through, either. I might try it again with King Arthur starter (which is much less runny), but this bread was inedible and I'm dumping out the Betty Crocker starter immediately and throwing out the bread. If anyone knows what I did wrong, please let me know. I've never had a problem with a Betty Crocker recipe before.

They turned out very dense for me, as do all the scratch cupcakes I've tried. More like a bread than a cake. I've been told that I might have better luck measuring by weight rather than volume (perhaps flour is denser here in the Pacific Northwest??), but I'm not sure what a cup of flour is supposed to weigh. Any truth to this theory?
