"First of all I'm from Texas and this was too bland to me to call it chili. I had to add a ton more chili powder, more cumin, added a good dose of paprika, some cayenne pepper, and quite a bit more tabasco. I kept tasting and adding until it tasted like chili."

"In the lame town I live in I could not find refrigerated fettuccine, which I used regularly in Dallas a few months ago. So I used a 7oz vermicelli because I had it on hand, knowing that it was a very thin pasta as opposed to a thicker strand. I used two Roma Tomatoes instead of one large, and seeded it first. Followed the recipe other than that and it was still really good. Husband liked it and he's picky, son liked it without adding the tomatoes and basil -- just plain. I liked it too with tomatoes and basil even though I'm not a raw tomato fan. It was like having bruchetta with pasta instead of bread. Very fresh tasting. I had a thinner pasta and less ounces than called for, and there was a little too much sauce so I think with the right pasta it would be just right. I might add a little olive oil to smooth the sauce a little next time."
