Hurray!~I finally found the (or very close to it) recipe I saw in the L.A. Times' food section in 1987!! My husband and I were entertaining a staff member (and her husband) from his graduate school days at UCLA; I saw this recipe and decided to try it at dinner that night. My husband was completely amazed that I could "create" this masterpiece while we were eating dinner and I was taking care of our 10 month old daughter.(The pan was prepped before dinner; I only put it in the oven during dinner.) This recipe is 100 percent fail-proof (I believe). Your family will love the flavors and textures -- we added vanilla ice cream. Hopefully, this will become a favorite in your house.
