"I used a red bell pepper in place of the onion since we don't enjoy onions, and that was the best part of the whole thing. I was not impressed by this recipe - a very uninteresting way to make ham taste like cornbread. Suggestions would be to double the ham because it was overpowered by the corn flavors. I would also add some more bell peppers, and the mushrooms as suggested by another reviewer - anything to add more texture and crunch. Maybe include a can of mild green chilis? Not amazing as is, try something else."

"I followed this recipe exactly and it was very delicious. I did not find it to be too salty, nor did I experience a soggy Bisquick topping like some of the other reviewers. Asparagus has a strong flavor and the cream sauce complements that nicely - not bland at all. I used a bag of frozen asparagus spears, which were easy to cut up while still frozen."
