my clan didn''t like the bacon, so we tried the next best thing: saved the grease (filtered of course) froze it and used that in the heavy iron skillet it was more than yummy, but the little corn fingers; outside to crispy, inside yuch. any suggestions. they also wanted it sweeter, more of a dinner- dessert instead of a vegetable. how much to add and would it change the baking time or consistency? anyone tried honey instead of sugar? they were discussing different things they could dip it in during tv and video game time as a snack, any suggestions?

WHAT KIND OF APPLES? WHAT KIND TO MIX AND MATCH TART VS SWEET; IF APPLE MIXTURE DONE NIGHT BEFORE SHOULD BAKING TIME BE CHANGED? WOULD SPRINKLE SUGAR ON TOP MAKE YOUR PIE LESS TART? WHERE''S THE OLD FASHIONED PIE CRUST RECIPE? MY MOM A AWARD WINNING CRUST MAKER; SAYS ANYTHING BUT LARD IS SACRILIGIES? WHAT PERCENTAGE LARD AND SHORTENING CAN BE USED? IS IT POSSIBLE TO MIX LARD AND OLIVE OIL? I MIX SHORTENING AND OLIVE OIL TO FRY. I FIGURE THEY CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT. IF THIS IS POSSIBLE WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGES. WILL THIS AFFECT THE COOKING APPLES? SHE''S COMMING FOR DINNER!!!!
