"I substituted orange zest and fresh squeezed orange juice for lemon. I did leave out just a couple tablespoons of sugar from the 2 cups as oranges have more sugar than lemon. I still used lemon juice for the icing. They were wonderful! And they stayed fresh tasting for days. Marvelous with a cup of tea or coffee."

"ahhh! I hadnt thought that way... there are 22 grams of sugar per cup of my OJ, but the amount of OJ to use is only 1/3 cup. so that would mean there are 66 grams of sugar in a 1/3 cup, and 1/3 cup of OJ would have 7.3 grams of sugar, sooooooo... it is"

"Combine 1 cup of milk with 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar. Let stand 5 minutes, then mix well and use in same quantities as recipe calls for (ie, 1 cup above mixture = 1 cup buttermilk)."
