"It turned out great for me too! I used a 8" or 9" round glass pan instead of a skillet and I had to break the ingredients in half because only 3 cups of apples fit in the pan at once. So it made 2 pans worth. I used whole milk instead of buttermilk. I didn't need the syrup personally. Loved it the way it was."

"This is a very hearty delicious meal. I made it once before and I decided to try it again and it's just delicious. I used all the same items in the recipe listed, but added one more can of the tomatoes. And like one of the reviews below, no need to add extra seasonings which is great! I hadn't made it for a long time because of the peeling and cutting of that hard butternut squash, but I microwaved it for 3 min to make it more soft and then used a potato peeler on the outside. So that made it alot easier for me. I will use this recipe again very soon."

"I cooked it on low for 8 and 1/2 hours after I saw the post below and used beef chuck instead of the other beef instead of shoulder beef. It turned out great! I let it cook for about 2 hours then I turned the beef over and then poured some more bbq sauce over it since the post below said there wasn't enough bbq sauce. I didn't put the beans in or the chili since I have kids. I used the beans as a side dish. The coleslaw is nice on top of the beef. I would definitely cook this again for my family. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner!!"
