"This recipe is much too big for a 3-4 qt. slow cooker, needs a 5-6 qt cooker. I had to leave the water out, and was able to put in only 32 oz of beef broth. I love blackeyed peas but I wouldn't make this dish again. Too expensive (wheat berries cost almost $5), and was OK but just didn't taste that good. "

"I substituted Cream of Jalapeno Soup, available at HEB stores in South Texas, for the mushroom soup. Mixture was a little "soupy", but absolutely delicious! I will definitely make this one again. "
