"Easily put together and depending on how artistic you are, very eye-catching. I would suggest however that you soften up the dried fruits a bit by boiling them in a slightly sweet water or fruit juice. (Dried apricots can be quite tough to chew into.) I use brandy to boil them in. Cool them in the pot so they soak up the liquid. The liquor taste is very mild and accents the fruit. The fruit is easily chewable and will enhance the flavor of the cheeses you choose. An excellent after-dinner course or an elegant get-together nosh."

"I have used a similar recipe with Betty Crocker's oatmeal cookie mix and it has always come out wonderful. Instead of the maple syrup (too sweet for my family), I substituted a few tablespoons (usually three or four) of orange marmalade or a peach preserve although apple butter works well too. I added a quarter cup of rolled oats to the cookie mix to enhance the oatmeal flavor and give it a more nutty taste instead of using the pecans (family allergies to nuts). It really is a fool proof recipe and with the sweet apples now available, it is a wonderful and easy recipe to enjoy! "
