Savory Beef Stew The first time I made this it was ok..but last night I made a couple of changes..First I browned the beef with just a pinch of oil..took it out of the dutch oven and made a roux with 1 and 1/2 cups of water and 2 Tablespoons of flour ..(made a nice texture)put the beef back in the dutch oven added a cup of red wine (good stuff)..then I followed the recipe..Browning the beef and making the roux made all the difference..no more 'soupy' texture..and the flavor was great..also added Italian seasonings and a little extra pepper..
