"Thanks Antilope, I'll give that one a try. I know my dad's didn't use boiling water and I don't think it had sugar in it. Funny thing is dad always made the cornbread. When mom did it the cornbread always stuck to the skillet. [:@] [:P]"

"Looking for a cornbread recipe that uses no flour. My dad had one years ago and I've lost my copy. Do know that it had cornmeal, buttermilk and baking soda as some of the ingredients. We used to bake it in an 8 inch cast iron skillet in the oven. Thanks"

"I make a pan shortcake, usually 11 x 15 pan and when it's fresh out of the oven spread butter over the top and sprinkle with sugar. I then cut a piece about 21/2"x 6" put fresh strawberries another layer of shortcake more berries then load on the whipped cream. That to me is dinner, it's the way I was raised. There's always some left for breakfast or lunch the next day. My DH doesn't quite get it, thinks I'm weird, but oh well. I'll even do peach shortcake when peaches are in season. "
