"First...this recipe is great. I added a 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes for a little added heat, but otherwise delicious as-is. Now, a couple of points - traditional chili has no beans, period. There are many geographical differences in what goes into a chili that make it unique to that particular area (St. Louis, Cincinnati, Louisville, etc), but as mentioned, traditionally (and historically) a chili is a stew with no meat. This recipe makes no distinction as being a "vegetarian" or "vegan," so why that came into play is irrelevant. Also, Alberto23...if you eat soups with meat broths ("sometimes"), then you are NOT a vegetarian, end-of-story; it doesn't matter if there's an option or not - sorry! Overall, great recipe. The cilantro adds a nice flavor and this makes a great base recipe to add or remove ingredients as necessary to get the flavor you're looking for. Well done!"
