"The above receipe is good and matches the Betty Crocker Cook Book but it is not the same as the recipe that came in the box. Fortunately, after they were discontinued, I found an OLD package sitting in a grocery store in Baker, Montana. Below is the recipe that was on the box. The difference is using coconut rather than brown sugar. There was no brown sugar in the box! Date Bar Mix – From the Original Betty Crocker Package (not the Betty Crocker Cookbook) Crust: Flour, unbleached all-purpose 2 ¼ Cups Oatmeal 1 ⅞ Cups – then grind in blender/food processor Coconut 1 ½ Cups - then grind in blender/food processor Sugar ⅔ Cup Salt 2 ¼ Teaspoon. Baking Soda ¾ Teaspoon Vegetable Oil 9 Tablespoon Mix crust ingredients and press ½ of the mix into a greased 9” x 13” pan Spread other ½ of mix over the date filling pressing lightly. Date Filling: Mix 3 cups cut-up dates (1 pound), ¼ cup sugar and 1 ½ cups of water in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, about 10 minutes or until thickened. Bake at 375ᴼF for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned on top Duststormxl "
