Boston Cream Pie
I just wanted to comment on the technique used to split the cake. It is so much easier to use a piece of thread, rather than the sawing motion of the knife. You can still use toothpicks if you want, I don't. I just eyeball it. Starting at the middle of your piece of thread, wrap around the cake with both hands and when your hands meet, cross one end over the other and just give a bit of a tug on each end in each hands to get it started. The thread will travel through as you continue pulling. Nice, easy clean cut!

The topping taste like brownie.
I used 1 can of Cherry Pie filling, 1 Large Apple, cored, peeled and sliced...... microwaved the apple by itself, 30 seconds at a time for about 3 minutes, just to get the rawness out of it and I had about a cup of frozen blueberries that I microwaved to unthaw, drained off the watery juice and added it to the pie filling and apple pieces.
Topped it with the crumble and walnuts and baked for 45 minutes at 350.
Super Duper Delicious
I think with the amount of topping, you could use a total of 3 cans of pie filling.
