Smoky Sausage Penne
"I do not think people should be able to review (I mean actually give a recipe a rating) until they have made it. I made this recipe with a few substitutions and it was great. Reviewing a recipe low just because you "think you might not like something" is not rating it. By doing what you have done you have already given this recipe a "3" and not even tried it. I never heard of such a thing. And, no, this is not my recipe. I used 1% milk and no-salt broth instead of the recipe starter as well as a can of diced tomatoes with no-salt added. I also used some cut-up turkey that I had already cooked so didn't add it til the last along with some cooked broccoli. This isn't as tasty or spicy so I used Mrs. Dash original to flavor it and 1 c shredded swiss which is a lot lower in sodium. Didn't use anything else but the pasta. It is true that this is too much sodium and fat for us as it was but it did give me another recipe idea and I know some people can't start from scratch as often as I have to. "

Company Broccoli Three-Cheese Bake
"Loved this for a potluck. However it would never feed 14 as was mentioned in another review. To help keep the cost down and serve more people I added another bag of regular frozen brocolli, 1/4 c. velveeta and 1/4 c. 2% milk. "

Creamy Ham and Fettuccine
"I thought this was great. I did use leftover ham that I had chopped up for a casserole and frozen at Easter. I also added a little ranch dressing...nice touch. One thing I always have to remind myself about is that anything that you cook with something like quick-cooking pasta or a reheated dish is going to absorb more liquid than you think. If you are not going to eat this immediately plan on adding more liquid. I used a little extra milk and a few tablespoons of chicken broth. "

Beef Pasta and Mushroom Soup
"We thought this was very bland. It looks and sounds so good that I even tried it the second time with leftover chopped roast beef. When I used the chopped up roast, I had thicker noodles and I think these thickened it a little more."

Savory Meat Loaf
"Since meatloaf is not something I like to make, I always look up another recipe when it is time again (my husband begins to complain that it is a long time since we've had it). This was really easy. I did not have oatmeal so I substituted bread crumbs for the oatmeal. This makes quite a bit for us so before I shaped my meatloaf, I made two patties like for swiss steak from the meatloaf mixture and wrapped them individually to freeze. Then I made my meatloaf and it was great. However, it was also really great to have a couple of "meatloaf steaks" to put in the oven a month later!"

Chicken with Rice and Mushrooms
Rating:
This was a really easy and quick recipe and we liked the taste. I don't understand how someone can say they can't give something a rating because they haven't tried it yet and still give it only one spoon. That pulls the ratings down on something that really is a quick meal to fix.
