Mocha-Toffee Truffle Bars
Well, mine don't look as good as the picture. But that's probably my fault. I think I overbaked them...living at CO altitude sometimes messes stuff up. BUT....I made a fix by making a chocolate 'ganache' type topping by melting choc. chips with a little oil and spreading over the top after the pan is completely cool. Then you put in fridge for a hour or so to set up the top...covered up the too brown top and still tasted great.

Peanut-Topped Brownies with Maple Filling
I made these last year, and they were so good and turned out well. Everyone liked them and my husband took some to work where he got even got one 'these are the best brownies I've ever had.' They are rich though with the maple filling.

I love toffee, but I didn't care for the crust very well on this bar...kinda dry and not very buttery/rich tasting; too floury tasting, and it tended break off from the nut layer. The nut layer and topping tasted good. I couldn't find the swirled chips at my grocery, so I used chocolate chips and toffee bits, which was good. I don't think I'd make it again, but try a different recipe instead.

Chocolate Chip Biscotti
These are yummy! I would have given 5 spoons, I think, except for I will need to tweak the recipe a little next time. I needed to add about 2-3 T. of egg beaters in to make the dough come together. I found it would form better into logs on the cookie sheet if I chilled the dough first. I also thought there were too many chocolate chips in there, since I had a lot of pieces that had big dark areas from all the chocolate melting. I liked the chocolate, cranberries and hazelnuts together...I would just put like half or 2/3 bag chocolate chips next time, especially if you are drizzling w/ chocolate, too.

I've made these 2x now-they are great! My biggest problem was not finding the phillo cups-I could only find a big pkg. of phillo sheets at my grocery. I think I put on too much of it the first time; I had quite a layer compared to the picture. So the 2nd time, I just eyeballed it. I also increased the glaze by a third or so. Delicious and worth it if you like baklava.

One of my daughters picked these b/c she thought they were pretty, but I'd have to say that we all agreed they were not very good. Same as other reviewers said....tasted floury and powdered sugar on top did not help. Too bad I wasted 2 sticks of butter on them!
