"@Gary888 It's normal for a liquid to form at the top of the starter. The starter does not need to be fed during the first week. You can also make the starter with just flour and water. The natural yeast in the air and in the flour will develop into a good starter (in most areas, depending on weather, etc). That's the way the pioneers made starter. Today's commercial yeast speeds up the process. Good luck!"
