I can remember long before they had premade sauces, cooking sauce for this long, cutting the tomatoes, using canned tomatoe sauces etc and letting it cook all day long. It tasted so good, but today its very expensive to cook that way. Use low fat pork and hamburger, use low sodium chicken broth, and you can shed some of the calories and sodium. Before you judge this, try it, and its not all that hard to leave something on simmer for 4 hours, you could also just leave it in the slow cooker for that long. The flavors will amaze you, you just need to give it a try. Oh and yes I did try this, and it was fantastic.

Slow-Cooker Mushroom Beef
This is simply the easiest recipe to make, and very very good. It happens to be one of my hubbies favorites, in fact I am fixing for dinner. I do double up on the gravy and the ingredients, except for the mushrooms. We use pretty large potatoes, and we both like lots of gravy. It is so quick to make, and you just pile it all in the slow cooker, and walk away...I think prep time of 25min is a bit long, it certainly does not take me that long.
