"Great cookies, especially with extra orange flavor! I added 1 TBSP of McCormick Orange Extract and some food coloring to make them orange. I used vegetable oil instead of the shortening and 2 eggs rather than just 1, hoping they'd turn out more cakey and they did! I followed the recipe above for the rest of the ingredients. I mixed them using my kitchen aid mixer and started with only half the cake mix and all the wet ingredients. Unlike other reviews, my dough turned out fine, not too dry or crumbly, so maybe the vegetable oil rather than shortening was the key. The mix was pretty wet, but still doughy - not thin like a cake batter. I used a melon baller dipped in powdered sugar and scooped them on a cookie sheet and baked them at 350 for 6 to 7 minutes. Then I added orange extract and food coloring to the betty crocker lemon frosting and put a generous spread of it on each cookie and put sprinkles on top. They are fabulous!"
