"OMG delicious...a special treat!! I made this as a special treat for my Kentucky-bred, bourbon connoisseur father-in-law but was a little nervous that it might be too "heavy" on the bourbon. WOW...not at all. I found myself (and the rest of my family) going back for repeated helpings. A+++ all the way!!!"

"Terrific flavor and super easy to put together. I use frozen, cooked shrimp as a quick substitute...just as easy (just be careful not to overcook). My husband raves about this dish every time I make it!"

"This soup is such a great treat that I've made it over and over again, always with high-fives! I find that sauting the onions and veggies in olive oil first gives a nice extra flavor. I also like to add 1/2 cup of barley, 1 T chicken stock (my all-around favorite staple), 1/2 tsp basil and 3 shakes of curry. The curry is a particularly nice twist :-) My husband asks for it over and over! A+++"

"I've made this soup over and over again, always with high compliments. It's very easy to make, especially if you use a food processor to chop your onions, carrots and celery. In addition to the listed ingredients, I also add 1 tablesoon of chicken stock (my personal staple in everything!), 1/2 tsp basil, 3 shakes of curry and 1/2 cup of barley. I also like to saute the onions together with the carrots and celery before adding to the crockpot for a nice, rich flavor. Good stuff!!"
