Hash Brown

Betty Crocker Seasoned Skillets Potatoes

Hash brown potatoes seasoned with herbs and spices. Made with 100% real potatoes.


BETTY CROCKER® SEASONED SKILLETS® HASH BROWN POTATOES

YOU WILL NEED:

1 2/3 Cups Hot Water
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine*
*If using a spread, it must contain at least 65% vegetable oil.

STOVE-TOP DIRECTIONS

Nonstick Skillet Recommended*
  1. STIR Potatoes, hot water, salt and butter in 10-inch nonstick skillet.
  2. HEAT uncovered to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until butter is melted. Spread potatoes evenly; press firmly. Cook uncovered, without stirring or turning, 7 to 10 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and bottom is brown.
  3. CUT potatoes into 4 sections with edge of plastic turner. Turn each section over. Cook 1 minute longer or until bottom is brown. Refrigerate leftovers.


*Alternate Directions Using a Skillet Without a Nonstick Finish

YOU WILL NEED:

5 Cups Boiling Water
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
3 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine*
*If using a spread, it must contain at least 65% vegetable oil.
  1. PLACE Potatoes in 4-quart bowl. Pour boiling water over potatoes. Let stand 3 minutes. DRAIN THOROUGHLY. CAUTION: Bowl and potatoes will be hot. Return drained potatoes to bowl. Sprinkle with salt; toss.
  2. HEAT butter in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat just until melted; tilt skillet to coat bottom. Spread potatoes evenly; press firmly. Cook uncovered, without stirring or turning, 2 to 4 minutes or until bottom is brown.
  3. REMOVE from heat. Cut potatoes into 4 sections with edge of metal turner. Turn each section over. Cook 1 minute longer or until bottom is brown. Refrigerate leftovers.
TIP: Because range tops and skillets differ, adjust heat and cook times as needed.

Your skillets hash browns are the best tasting my son and I eat two boxes a day , but here in Wellston, Ohio 45692 they are very hard to find. We have traveled 40 miles to find them. and when we do find them we buy out the store , we ask the store if they have any more in there back room. You have a great product keep it coming Thank You Barry Lambert

I thought our grocery store simply made a mistake in discontinuing this product. I did not expect to find this forum and news that General Mills discontinued this product. I'm a former General Mills employee that did the creative development on this product so I know it better than most. This product "was" a main staple of our weekend breakfast plans. I stumbled across this forum in an attempt to see if I could buy in bulk direct or online the Cub Foods store manager's suggestion. Perhaps if enough people post their discontentment in this marketing decision it will be reinstated in the product line? As a Cubmaster for local cub scouts and boy scouts we were also buying this product in bulk for our campouts! A real downer to see this happen to what I felt was a solid product my a now former employer. AH

Why have the original hash browns been discontinued. The other Instant potatoes still available are awful. Please bring back the originals.

Exactly what brain dead executive decided to discontinue the original hash browns? My kids and I have eaten these for over 20 years, and I cannot express how angry and disgusted I am with your entire decision making management staff for thinking your buying public wouldn't notice their absence. The new cheesy ones are terrible and no substitute for the original. Fire whoever made this horrendous decision. Get them back on the shelves ASAP!

I can't believe you cancelled / discontinued a quality product as Seasoned Skillets Hash Browns - Betty Crocker has lost my business in so far as purchasing ANY other type of BC products

Almost every Sunday after church we'd have BC hash browns (made the crispy way) with sausage, eggs and toast. I ran out and couldn't find any at the store never dreaming you would discontinue such a popular product. Often I would serve them for company and they would rave and request to see the box so would know what to buy. Please reconsider. So many of your other varieties are horrible - don't even taste like potatoes.

Are you not selling this product anymore?? I use to be able to buy it at my neighborhood Walmart Market, but they are no longer selling it. We love these hash browns!!! Been eating them since I can remember. Please reconsider!!!

We have used the hash brown skillets for many years and can not believe they are not available any longer, what am I suppose to do, peel & shred real potatoes?

I would like to join the others here who have gone so far as to seek out this site to comment and say, I've been enjoying this product for over 30 years and am sad to see it go. I cannot imagine why BC would cancel a product with such a following. With BBQ ribs these are better than sliced bread! Unfortunately I can't really afford to buy a case through Amazon.
