The past few boxes of these potatoes have been horrendous. They taste bad, stale or sour. Not sure what. They kind of taste and smell like the box they came in. I wouldn't recommend. We are not going to be buying these again or any boxed potatoes actually from the Betty Crocker line until this problem is fixed.

I also wish I would have read the previous reviews. This was without a doubt the worst tasting side dish ever! Had a very bad taste and smell. One bite and the rest went in the trash. We wished we would've read these reviews before purchasing and preparing this product....Disgusting!! I'm not sure how anyone could mess up cheese and potatoes but Betty Crocker found the way. This product smells and tastes like moldy gym socks, do not waste your money on this. This is my first product review ever, that is how bad this is. One word Betty Crocker...refund! This was a HORRIBLE side dish!!! To not eat this! Do not buy this! I bought 3 boxes of this to make at once (I thought this would be something different to try)....prepared according to directions. My daughter had a helping of it and said it smelled funny, she tasted it and said it was awful. My husband also tried it and said it was bad. When it was my turn to taste it - EWWWWWW! We had to throw away the whole thing! The dishes and pot stunk when the hot water hit them when trying to clean off the hash brown mess! Just terrible! Betty Crocker - HOW COULD YOU LET THIS STUFF GET SOLD????

That was the most disgusting side dish ever! Just as someone else said on here, I checked the box to make sure the product wasn't expired--it wasn't! It smelled horrific. The taste was just as awful. I don't recommend anyone to purchase it. Seriously, how do you mess up hash browns?

We purchased and made the cheesy hashbrowns and were sickened by the smell and taste of this product. Sell by date was good but the potatoes tasted like they were rotten or stale. We took only one bite and threw the rest out. Would suggest this be taken off the market. Terrible taste!

Don't know how this one got past Quality control. This dish (Cheesy Hashbrowns) was the worst we ever tasted. It even left a bad smell in my kitchen. One taste and the whole family ditched it. Would suggest that you discontinue it. Anyone trying this one will be scared to try the others.

Ran out of the Seasoned Skillets Hash Browns that my family LOVES and I could only find the Cheesy Hashbrown product on the shelf at my local grocery stores. We don't need more cheese stuff in our meals, but we tried them any way. What a waste of money, time, milk and butter. We ate exactly one spoonful each and the rest of the product was thrown out. I think this one needed more test kitchen time:) Please bring back the Seasoned Skillets Hash Browns to my local grocery stores, our weekend morning breakfasts are missing them!!!

Shame on Betty for this grossly disgusting mass of ????? I wont call it cheese. I do not know what it was except awfull! I thought it had expired but no it had not. Very artificial tasting to say the least. This should be taken off the market immediately as others here have stated their displeasure. I think Betty owes me a refund.

My family normally enjoys anything with cheese in it, and more so things with Hashbrowns. Sadly this failed on all fronts. The hashbrowns ended up wet and not very solid. Now I don't mind a somewhat soggy hashbrown so I'll let that slide. The kicker with this dish is the cheese sauce. I don't know what kinda of "cheese" was used in this, or if it was the potato itself, but something wasn't right. It tasted bitter, almost moldy. Me and my family all had one bite and put the rest into the trash, while playing a guessing game of what's that taste, no one won.
