I'm making banana nut bread from this mix about every 3 days for my husband. He can't enough. But, I've tweaked it. I use 2 pouches, 3/4 cup water, 2 mashed ripe bananas, 1/3 cup chopped walnuts. Add walnuts at end by gently stirring until mixed. I use dark coated 9 x 13 loaf pan, spray with Pam, and cook at 375 for about 35 minutes. Check with knife, not toothpick. Insert in several areas to ensure no batter comes out on knife. Cool 5 minutes, remove and cool completely on rack. Yummy!!

get to know your oven well... lol BC mixes are great! and try baking it at exactly 16mins, that's how my cuppies are baked, really nice look!

It's terrible pinkhound had such a fuss. These are always great and taste wonderful. I have never had a problem with any of the BC mixes. Maybe you need to try them again because there could be something wrong with your oven? Grab a gauge next time out to check your oven temp. I have never had any of them have smoke roaring out as you put it. Better Luck next time.

The above person needs to learn how to cook. It's not the chemistry lab with controlled conditions. Pay attention.

The directions say to cook at 375-400 for 16-21 minutes. I tried the blueberry first and put them in for 18 minutes at 400. BURNT!!! I then tried to bake the banana at 375 for 16 minutes, at 12 minutes into in BURNT...so burnt my stove had smoke roaring from it... will never buy these again, And betty crocker is usually really good... not this product
