I'm going to be very honest here, I never purchase box dinners, ever. After making and eating the Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper, just confirms and reminds me why I never purchase them. This was HORRIBLE. I wasted my time, a pound of hamburger and dinner. I've been reading the other reviews about the stale chips, well forget about complaining about those, the whole thing was bad. It wasn't rancid, it was simply bad. To top it off, every one is saying how they add other items just to make it taste good. Clearly nobody else likes it either. Just make something from scratch, it'd be so much easier and healthier. And what was the yellow stuff that I had to add milk to? I think it was supposed to be cheese sauce?? Sorry Betty Crocker, take this one off of your production line. I give it a minus 10 spoons.

I have no idea what all these comments are talking about. I just tried this type for the first type and after reading all the comments was a little skeptical but it was good. Obviously not authentic Mexican but just what I expected. The chips that everyone is complaining about were great. If some people got bad ones, thats one thing, but other than that everyone needs to remember that these are corn chips, NOT tortilla chips. There is a difference in taste. I definitely could have used more.

Tonight my husband made Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper and it was horrible! ...even after adding more-than-called-for fresh hamburger and 1 cup shredded cheese! Our dog wouldn't even eat it!!!I think it was the chips...they were rancid or something because it had a strong chemical taste that I can't describe...toxic! Don't use the chips!!!

This USED to be my favorite meal to make. I'm talking 4-5 years ago. Then the seasonings were changed up and I didn't care for it anymore. Now apparently the chips are gross. Seriously, Betty, get it together!

I made the Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper last night. I gave my one year old granddaughter a chip b/4 i had one. She chewed it up and couldn't get it out of her mouth fast enough and started to cry. (This, coming from a kid who snacks on dog food any chance she can)! I thought i had better try them. I'm glad I read the other reviews and it's not just me that thinks these chips are DISGUSTING!! I have never written a review on anything in the past, but these were so horrible I can't even believe they are used for human consumption! The meal itself is pretty good but GET RID OF THOSE NASTY CHIPS! Ended up throwing the whole pan full away bc all the chips were in it already! Honestly, where is your quality control?

My husband works 12-hour shifts and needs lots of protien for energy. So i like to make this and send leftovers, but it never weems to make enough. I started adding stuff and now I have it down and we love it! We add one can of black beans, one can of rotel, and one can of whole kernel corn, and we eat it with regular tortilla chips and sour cream. YUM!

My wife and I whipped up the good ole crunchy taco tonight which is typically very good... Not tonight. The problem is with the chips; I see that others have had problems with these being stale, well mine were totally rancid. I didn't even think chips could turn rancid? Perhaps they were contaminated with something or had mold? Has anyone else experienced this one? I can't quite explain the taste but the chips were terrible and made my wife and I sick... Luckily the kids didn't end up eating any of this stuff, hopefully Betty's quality department is alerted to investigate root cause and achieve containment, etc. - Patrick Cronican

We love this one. We to have always had stale chips but when we buy this we usually get a bag of Frito Corn Chips. We also add a can of corn, black beans, some times tomatoes and a little exta shredded cheese. The kids love it!!!

Tonight I prepared The Mexican Crunchy Taco dinner. However, when I opened the Taco chips they were Very, Very Stale. What a disapointment!!! I checked the date and the use by date is May 18, 2011. Luckily I had some small packages of Dorito Cheesy Nacho chips and I used those. The result was very good, but it upset me that your chips were so stale. By the way, I did enjoy the taste of the end result so all was not lost.
