First I must say I was shocked to see all the negative comments but that is to be expected when one is not a chef and uses these kinds of "box meals". That said, I decided to go for the "dress it up approach" as I have always done being disabled and on food stamps... when get them... So here is what I am going to do. 1. since a lot of these reviews are about saltiness, mom taught me to always use veggies especially potatoes when you have too much salt in a recipe by accidentally or whatever the case may be. 2. I decided to use no salt when browning the meat and to use some Vidalia onion for their sweetness and add some fresh crushed garlic to the meat when sauteing it. I know too that milk can sometimes too cause a salty taste that can be cut by using reduced amount of milk and add water to make it a 10% milk instead of straight milk. Then I chose to use broccoli as it almost always need salt. I feel it will be a very good fix and do like all the input before I cook this mess up as I cannot afford to waste food. I will post a follow up to let everyone know how it went but I feel confident I will have two or three dinners and already am planing to freeze a part for the future. Good luck to all.

One pack skip the water add 2 cups of milk and 8 ounces of sour cream. It eliminates the salt, and gives it creaminess. I never use the noodles in the pack, and always keep the egg noodles or fettucine on the side and add sauce on top.

Very disappointed with the Beef Stroganoff. The sour cream packet is no longer included and the pasta tasted terrible. I don't think I'll be purchasing this in the future. :(

The ORIGINAL Hamburger Helper Stroganoff was waaaaaaay better. It had two packets. One was the flavor packet and then a packet that had a white powder that you mixed with milk or water (I can't remember), but you mixed it and it made sour cream. Then you stirred that in and it was soooooo good. It tasted like Stroganoff from scratch. This new Hamburger Helper with nly one flavor packet is okay, but I have to agree with other members that it tastes very salty. Very processed taste to it. I could never pass this off as something I cooked from scratch and serve it to people at dinner like I did the Orginal Hamburger Helper Stroganoff. I wouldn't want to either.

This was first Hamburger Helper meal that we just couldn't eat! It was SO SALTY that after my husband and I ate about a third of what was on our plates, we threw it away. A waste of money. We ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
