The ORIGINAL Hamburger Helper Stroganoff was waaaaaaay better. It had two packets. One was the flavor packet and then a packet that had a white powder that you mixed with milk or water (I can't remember), but you mixed it and it made sour cream. Then you stirred that in and it was soooooo good. It tasted like Stroganoff from scratch. This new Hamburger Helper with nly one flavor packet is okay, but I have to agree with other members that it tastes very salty. Very processed taste to it. I could never pass this off as something I cooked from scratch and serve it to people at dinner like I did the Orginal Hamburger Helper Stroganoff. I wouldn't want to either.

This was first Hamburger Helper meal that we just couldn't eat! It was SO SALTY that after my husband and I ate about a third of what was on our plates, we threw it away. A waste of money. We ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

the last double box of classic stroganoff tasted like it had a salt shaker dumped in it the box says 750 mg of salt. this is the saltest hambuger helper i have ever fixed. someone must have missed this batch in the quality testing department

When I make the classic stroganoff I make a double batch with one pound of hamburg. I add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of red wine to the mixture and decrease the amount of water by the same amount. We like to have a lot of noodles and sauce. I have served this to company and have been asked more than once for the recipe. They are surprised when I tell them it is hamburger helper. It tastes like a gourmet meal.

My husband and I enjoy all your different varieties of hamburger helpers. The Creamy Stroganoff and Potato Stroganoff are favorites. The only thing, when we recently purchased the Creamy Stroganoff, the noodles have changed to thicker, smaller square noodles that take much longer to cook and soften up taking away all of the gravy by the time they are soft enough. We were surprised because the picture on the box had the old noodles on it. We don't like the new noodles and will only buy the Potato Stroganoff from now on. Or perhaps we may buy it and add our own noods and throw yours away. This takes away the low cost some though. Your products are great though.

@ vMAX728: I actually remember doing that a LONG time ago. And YES, it was considerably more flavorful back then. I'm SURE it was a cost issue (as with all other brands and types of foods) but it may have also been a time issue as it required more "work" to cook up the meal. Great meal nonetheless (the current version).

WHAT HAPPENED!!! to the original HH Stroganoff packetS, yes, PLURAL, from years ago?? Used to have two (2) powder packets within, one (1) cooked with the noodles/beef & one (1) mixed after cooking. The after-cooked packet was (claimed to be) "REAL" sour cream. Took a dash of milk, mixed & added to the prepared Stroganoff after cooking. Added a great flavor & thickened sauce "just right". Did this go away because of cost(s)??? or just the "norm" for this day & time??? Does anyone else recall the SourCream packet?
