I made this for my granddaughter who has Celiac. I was a bit doubtful after I mixed the batter--it seemed grainy, but after baking and cooling it was a perfect consistency and a hit with the grandkids. Is there a way to cut down on the amount of butter in the cake mixes? For a 2 layer cake, it would take 1 C of butter.

This cake mix is awesome... I don't know what I would do without these cake mixes!!! Family members never knew the difference and enjoyed it better then the traditional cake that was provided. I use the yellow cake to make cupcakes and change up the recipes to make them different every time. I freeze the cupcakes so when I have a craving for baked goods, they are at my fingertips. I only bake the cupcakes for 17-18 minutes at most on 350 and they come out nice an moist. My latest is a pineapple/coconut cupcake. Pineapple Coconut Cupcake: 1 box of GF yellow cake mix 3 eggs 1 stick salted butter substitute the 2/3 cup water with 2/3 cup pineapple juice from the canned pineapple 1 cup chunk pineapple diced up (if used crushed, make sure it's well drained) 3/4 cup sweetened coconut flakes 1 tsp GF Vanilla extract 1.25 tsp GF Coconut extract Mix all as directed on box - place in cupcake holders and bake for 17-18 min on 350. These are great all by themselves, or I like to top with cool whip, one chunk of pineapple, and sprinkle with shredded coconut. More variations are easy using other flavors of GF extracts like orange & lemon.

I was very disappointed in this cake mix. As a result of having Celiac, I have to live a GF life. I made this cake for my dads birthday and it was dry, tasteless, crumbled easily, and baked too thin. This cake was a disappointment and I regret not making the cake from scratch. Before I was diagnosed with Celiac I loved Betty Crocker products but this GF cake mix was just horrible. We ended up throwing out the whole cake. What a waste!

can you use the Gluten Free Yellow Cake mix to make a root beer float cake?

This mix was surprisingly good. I have never been a fan of cake mixes but this mix was very good. It did not have any of the typical aftertaste or texture of gluten free baked goods. I thought it was about the same as a cake made with wheat flour. It also still had a good taste and texture after a few days. I was very impressed.

Great gluten free mix. I no longer bother making my own from scratch. I use this mix and customize cakes from there. No after taste. It doesn't fall apart. It comes easily out of the pan. It's amazing.

This cake mix is amazing! I've made it many times as blueberry muffins for my GF boyfriend. Since he cannot eat eggs (or flax "fake" eggs), I simply add the following to the box recipe: 1 small lunch box sized applesauce, and make a "fake" egg from 1 tablespoon water, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder (not baking soda), and it fizzes as you mix it, then add it last to the already prepared cake mix, and bake as recommended. I add blueberries if making blueberry muffins. He LOVES these muffins. I've also make it as pumpkin muffins and pineapple upside down cake - these recipes put him in pure heaven! Thanks Betty Crocker!!!!

I can finally make GF Pineapple Upside Down cake and GF Pumpkin Bars. Both are awesome. I am very happy and trust Betty Crocker with their GF items. Thank you.

Loved it! Used my grandmother's 100 yr old recipe for cinnamon cake - just added lots butter and plenty of cinnamon on top. What a treat!
