This frosting isn't truly vanilla so it has an aftertaste that I personally find unpleasant. The closest thing I can think of would be like a food color taste or black licorace. Now the Vanilla frosting is one of my favorites try that to avoid the after taste on this one. Best of luck.

Guess I'm blessed. I didn't run into the bad taste problem. I used them for Christmas cookies and also valentines and had succeess. It really has a good taste and I love that it's so easy to spread. My mom used ONLY Betty Crocker Products and recipes throughout her life and her mother before her. I'm 3rd generation and now my daughter 28 is the fourth generation Betty Crocker lover. What's not to love? Great recipes, great products, and good results. Keep up the good work.

Whats going on with the icing the last 5 container I bought tasted bad. My daughter has the same problem.
