Wish I had read the reviews about the rancid smell before I wasted an egg and my butter. They smelled rancid before baking , like others I thought that was normal ...I took one taste after baking threw it out. When my niece came home I had my her taste them too without saying anything to her, she threw it out also ... The entire batch went into the trash. Total waste of time and money Shame on you Betty Crocker for not fixing an issue that has been documented in several comments...do you even read the comments? Time for yelp review!

Seeing that i have had white chip macadamia nut mix in the cupboard I've decided to make them for my demonstration speech, but what you guys have said about the cookies make me nervous... it's too late to change topics and i hope they turn out alright :(

You guys... I made these for a going away party, following the instructions exactly with the right ingredients... they smelled rancid from the start, but I thought that maybe it would get better after baking. I was wrong. They were so bad that they made the guest of honor throw up in front of everyone. Horrible!!! I wish I had read the reviews first.

Baked 3 bags and left them as a gift on a trip to relatives and kids. Rancid Rancid Rancid But I didn't know it. Wrote emails and even called BC and was promised coupons, but none have arrived. Apparently, no one from BC ever reads these reviews, as you can see how long the problem has been going on. Shame on Betty Crocker!

I received a package of these as a gift, decided to bake them and as soon as I opened the package I knew something was wrong. The mix smelled like it had been left in the deepest bowels of somebody's dirty kitchen cupboards for an eternity, but were not expired. Against my better judgement, I decided to bake these anyhow. I thought the smell and taste would go away after baking, but to my surprise it actually made it worse. I am now waiting for the cookies to cool. Not so that I can eat them, but so that I can throw them away. I think Betty Crocker owes me a stick of butter and an egg.

Was the first time I've made these cookies so was excited to try them. The mix smelled rancid, but not knowing if that was the normal odor, I just made them according to directions. Unfortunately, they tasted rancid too. Ended up throwing them out. Not sure why? Date was still good on package. After reading all the other bad reviews makes me think there may have been a rancid batch of these cookies? Disappointed — usually have good results with BC cookie mixes.

Extremely disappointed in this mix. As soon as you open the package you are subjected to a burning oil smell. I have always had good experiences with Betty Crocker products so I decided to bake cookies even with the bad smell. Bad idea! These cookies taste like burnt plastic and smell even worse after they have been baked. I checked the Expiration date and it said August 20 2014. Something isn't right here, Takes these off the shelves and fire those who approved this mix to be sold in grocery stores!

I added brown sugar and oatmeal to these and they turned out very good. I made them previously without any changes and they weren't that great.
